Company History
Warob Marine is a UK based company started by Gareth Roberts MSc BEng and Darren Ward BEng MIMeche, two professional mechanical engineers with an interest in multihull sailing boats, in order to develop a new type of sailing boat concept.
The boat first came to public notice as a result of its success in the 2002 Concept Boat competition. The design was displayed at Southampton and London International boat shows and featured in a number of TV, radio and Magazine articles. James Gower Director of the British Marine Federation described the boat as "a valuable contribution to the future of the British marine industry".
Subsquently Warob Marine won a prestigous Smart award form the Department of Trade and Industry. Smart awards provide funding to those companies who have shown outstanding innovation in their new products and processes. This highly competitive scheme rewards excellence and only the best ideas.
Using this award we were able to bring the concept of the Xcat to reality.
The XCat

The Xcat is a completely new concept in sail boats. A large boat, the size of the most popular beach cat, that collapses down shorter than a kayak or a windsurfer.
Very easy to transport, no trailer required. The entire boat will fit on a roofrack or in a pickup.
Lightweight, 100kg
Even higher stability than a conventional catamaran, 40% higher fore and aft.
Easy storage, can be stored in the corner of a garage, shed or yard.
A large 12ftx7ft (3.8mx2.2m) , comfortable, and safe uninterrupted trampoline deck space.
Distinctive and futuristic looks.
Fast
As the hulls are aerofoils they generate enough lift to not require dagger boards or skegs which are normally big contributors to drag.
The biplane rig combined with the the fourhull configuration make it the most stable multihull available.
Very difficult to pitchpoll
Very easy to right due to the short and lightweight rig.
Ideal for Holiday companies who can use thier stock of windsurfing rigs.

Warob Marine hold a number of Patents on thier innovative technology covering folding of multihull vessels, innovative hull design associated with the four hull format and thier unique biplane rig.
